Middletown Monarchs Softball was first established in the summer of 2020 with a 10U team by Wesleyan University Head Coach Jen Lane. Now in our seventh season, we have expanded to five softball teams – 10U, 12U, 2 14Us & 16U. Our teams play competitive schedules, including several tournaments and local doubleheaders. Our 16U team will play a number of showcases this summer, including New England’s Finest at the end of July, so its players can get college exposure.

Tryouts are held at the end of July/beginning of August for the following season. Fall ball practices begin at the end of August with games starting at the beginning of September and running through the end of October. In the fall, the Monarchs typically play weekend doubleheaders along with a few tournaments.

We begin winter practices indoors in mid-January in our facility, Xtra Innings 24, in Meriden until we can get outside at the end of March/beginning of April. Games will begin in April and will continue through the end of July. Our younger girls who play Monarchs are encouraged to play Little League Softball as well. (The older teams with high school players will not start practicing/competing until the high school season is finished.)

Monarchs is dedicated to developing our softball players both as athletes and as individuals. We emphasize the values of hard work, commitment, accountability, teamwork, and maintaining a positive attitude. Our goal is to prepare players to compete at the next level—whether in middle school, high school, or college—while fostering a lifelong love for the game of softball. At the same time, we strive to build confident, resilient young people whose leadership, character, and passion will serve them both on the field and in every area of life.
